Discipleship, Jesus' way
Putting it in layman terms, this is the training every minister wishes they learnt in Bible College!
Be prepared for God to put you on your assignment! This is the disciple's life - to be His chosen with a job to do!
|
Isaiah 50:4-5
The Lord, the Eternal, equipped me for this job [DISCIPLE] - with skilled speech, a smooth tongue for instruction. I can find the words that comfort and soothe the downtrodden, tired, and despairing. And I know when to use them. Each morning, it is God who wakes me and tells me what I should do, and what should say. The Lord, the Eternal, has helped me to listen, and to do as He says. i have not been rebellious or run away from God's work. |
So what do you require to be able to do your assignment
|
Matthew 15:14
To know the Word is to know what to do in situations and circumstances. Without the Word we are the blind leading the blind into ditches. |
The disciples were drawn to Jesus.
He was the real deal. He was different because He operated in power. His words changed them. As disciples, they lived with Him and learned from Him and later they became His sent ones as apostles. Practical and life empowering through ministry gifts and training. Activating ministry experience through missions and team assignments, just as Jesus did. This is discipleship. |
"Disciples become ministers; this is lives not wasted. Don't limit God - study to show yourself approved." |
What is different about this Bible College?
Firstly, we don't call ourselves a Bible College. Jesus didn't hand select His disciples to tell them to go off to Bible College. No! He told them to follow Him! This is the model for Discipleship training.
Secondly, the Disciples became Ministers of the Gospel.
The 12 started out learning, listening, watching Jesus. Growing in Foundation and learning who He was. After this time He gave them power and authority and started to send them out as His disciples grew to 72, with the 12 leading the disciples. By the third year the 12 Disciples were trained in the ways that Jesus worked. They knew their Teacher. They knew the power and authority and they knew their work. The 72 lead the way for His disciples to grow to 120.
After the death and resurrection of Jesus and the following baptism in the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the disciples became the Apostles - the sent ones. They were now ready for their assignments! They preached, taught, declared and demonstrated the power of the Gospel to the world!
This is discipleship the way Jesus does it. The disciples learnt by doing the work with Jesus! This is the making of Ministers.

What is the Discipleship C.R.E.W. about?
Now you understand why we don't call ourselves a Bible College. So why do we call ourselves the Discipleship C.R.E.W.?
A crew is 'a group of people who work closely together'. Our Discipleship C.R.E.W. are working together - they have a purpose, an assignment, and are actively engaging in it to go somewhere. The archaic definition of the word crew actually means 'a band or force of armed men' ie. we're God's soldiers in training. We are Discipled Christians, Ready, Equipped and Willing (C.R.E.W.)! Welcome to the Discipleship C.R.E.W. and get on board as we are going places on assignment! |
